Get to Know Me…

Billings, MT

My name is Dana! I grew up in Washington state on a small family farm where I gained my appreciation for everything outdoors.  My passion for animals and the outdoors as a kid led me to a career in wildlife biology.  I have had the privilege of working and living in many northwestern states, but for the last 20 years I have called Montana home with my husband, son and Labrador retrievers. As a family we love to do all things outside together including hunting upland birds, waterfowl, and big game, fishing, and backpacking.  We have changed over to lead free ammunition over the last several years. Doing what’s ethical for wildlife and best for our health is important to us.  With three hunters in the family now, we almost eat exclusively what we gather and that is something we are proud of. I have a heart for education and want to share with others ethical, practical and obtainable practices when gathering food for their families this is why I wanted to be an ambassador for SLF. Plus, I’m always up for the next adventure especially if it involves sporting lead free!
