Taking Aim at Conservation with Boss Shotshells

Boss Shotshells has proven to be an incredible Conservation Partner for Sporting Lead-Free. They have surpassed our expectations and their willingness to support this initiative leaves us at us a loss for words, but we’ll do our best to at least give you a few…

HOC

We recently participated in Hunters of Color’s Leadership/Ambassador training and hunt in Red Bluff, California. Hunters of Color is the only nationwide hunting nonprofit led by BIPOC, for BIPOC. They are working on increasing BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) participation in hunting for the sake of conservation, food sovereignty, and to preserve their ancestral traditions.

During this training weekend, participants were also given the opportunity to hunt pheasant or wild boar. In California, it is required to use lead-free ammunition for hunting. We thought this would be a perfect opportunity to support this hunt, educate the participants, and connect our conservation partners. We reached out to Boss Shotshells to see if they would provide shotgun ammunition for the pheasant hunting portion of the training weekend.

Boss didn’t bat an eye. Meg immediately boxed up several cases of 20ga and 12ga shotshells to be used for the weekend.

This not only highlighted Boss’s support of lead-free ammunition initiatives, but also their support for increased BIPOC participation in hunting. Read more about the HOC Leadership/Ambassador training weekend here.

And Boss’s generosity didn’t stop there…

BHA AFI

We recently partnered with the Backcountry Hunters & Angler’s Armed Forces Initiative. BHA AFI’s mission is to instill within the Military Community, a knowledge of conservation theory, a love of wild places, and a desire to elevate America’s public wildlands as fundamental components of American Freedom.

As they were planning their fall/winter waterfowl and upland hunts, they mentioned needing some ammo. We once again reached out to our partners at Boss. Their incredible generosity floored us again.

Boss provided ammunition for five Veteran’s hunts including Nebraska Waterfowl Camp, New England Duck Camp, Kansas Upland hunt, North Carolina Waterfowl 101 Camp, and Texas Duck Dual Skills Camp.

Supporting Veterans has been a tenant of Boss’s mission since day one, and they really mean it! We’re honored to have been able to facilitate this opportunity and can’t wait to see BHA AFI continue to grow and support our Veterans.

And, if you can believe it, we have one more opportunity to share from Boss…

A Conservation Milestone

In a landmark move, Boss donated $15,000 of the profits generated from their limited-edition paper Warchief Shells to Sporting Lead-Free and an additional $15,000 to our Conservation Partners, HerUpland.

Not only has Boss been an incredible industry leader in getting the lead out, they’ve also engineered several other conservation minded features in this shell.

About the Warchief Shells:

The Warchief: A Blend of Performance and Sustainability

The Warchief isn't just another addition to the ammunition market; it's a testament to Boss' commitment to eco-friendly, high-performance shooting solutions. These paper-hulled shotshells are filled with Copper-Plated Bismuth, offering lead-like performance while being environmentally conscious. Enhanced with a proprietary walnut shell buffer, the Warchief shells are further complemented by a unique, in-house-made wad infused with BioTec's EcoPure®. This isn't just any wad; it's specifically engineered for Bismuth shot, ensuring deeper pellet penetration and more uniform patterns across all choke constrictions.

While our limited supplies last, you can now purchase these eco-conscious shells by the case.
