Summer outreach starts with a bang
Becoming an Outdoor Woman
SLF Wyoming outreach coordinator, Sarah, started summer off strong by spending time with some amazing folks while supporting the Becoming an Outdoor Woman event put on by Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
SLF staff assisted WGFD Wardens with shooting range activities and had a great time providing information on lead-free alternatives for hunting and angling activities. Offering this type of information and education at events that focus on educating novice or first-time hunters is a key part of our work.
It was a blast for our team to see women of all experience levels come together and feel empowered to learn new skillsets.

Maury brown kids fishing day 2023
Staying busy with a splash of fun, our team was elated to join great organizations like The WYldlife Fund and Wyoming Game and Fish for the 2023 Maury Brown Kids Fishing Day event near Cheyenne, WY.
While our team attended this event in person to hand out lead-free tackle and make sure that everyone had enough worms and jigs for a successful fishing day, we also were able to send out lead-free tackle to kid fishing day events throughout Wyoming!
Our team had an amazing time working with folks from around the region, and helping kiddos with their worms and hooks!
inspire a kid (iak) camps
Our team was beyond excited to join The WYldlife Fund team and offer some fly tying lessons to their camp goers this year.
The SLF team joined in on teaching kids from all backgrounds and experience levels how to tie their own flies, lead-free of course! The kids all found their level of comfort with this artform, some becoming masters by the end of the lesson.
Our ability to introduce the idea of lead-free flies and tackle to novice anglers is an important part of SLF outreach. Our belief in education, NOT legislation, starts with reaching those who may not know about this issue!
